NLP Series Part 2
People explore the world using their senses...the sense data passes through various filters before becoming a map...this map represent the reality of the individual...
A hungry beggar sees a mouldy bread as appetitive...while a rich man sees a mouldy bread as aversive...
Some basic filters aka Behavioral Frames
Outcome Vs Problem (i.e asking how or asking why)
Feedback Vs Failure (i.e there is no such things as failure, only results...these results will act as feedback)
Possibilities Vs Necessities (i.e focusing on choices or constraints)
Learning -> Unlearning -> Relearning
Unconscious Incompetence -> Conscious Incompetence -> Conscious Competence -> Unconscious Competence
To learn something, one has to consciously process the relevant information...
As something is mastered, one is able to subconsciouly perform...
To relearn something, one has to consciously process the relevant information again to replace/enhance the old information
Learning how to use the chopsticks using the right hand...initially, need to consciously note the positioning of the fingers...the amount of strength to use for each fingers etc...gradually, using the chopsticks become very easy, almost automatic...
Relearning how to use the chopstick using the left hand...the whole process repeats...

The Way of Gain and Loss
Someone walking on the street...found a $10 dollar note...rejoice over his finding...thinking that he has gain something
Someone working for an hour...earn $10...does not rejoice over the earning...as it was a normal consequence...an exchange
Someone just reached home to find himself $10 poorer...for he has dropped his $10 note somewhere along the path he passed by...mourned over his loss...thinking that he has lost something
Someone uses the $10 earned to buy food and drinks...does not mourn over the using of the $10...as it was a normal consequence...an exchange
Such is the way of gain and loss...see things in the right perspective...no more gain and no more loss...

NLP Series Part 1
NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming
NLP is a tool that involves various techniques that aim to increase personal effectiveness through modeling the success model of self and others.
Creation - Founded by John Grinder and Richard Bandler who refined the underlying patterns used by 3 therapists, Fritz Perls (Gestalt), Virginia Satir (Family Relationships), Milton Erickson (Hypnotherapy).
Why NLP is named NLP?
Neuro - the fundamental idea that all behaviours stem from neurological processes
Linguistic - indication of language being used to order our thoughts and to communicate
Programming - refers to the possibilities and ways ideas and actions can be organised to produce results

Just like that
Just Like That
Man loses horse.
Friends console him.
He says,
“I don’t know whether this is good or bad -
it is just like that.”
Horse returns with a wild horse.
Friends congratulate him.
He says,
“I don’t know whether this is good or bad -
it is just like that.”
Man’s son breaks leg while training horse.
Friends console him.
He says,
“I don’t know whether this is good or bad -
it is just like that.”
War breaks out and all able young have to fight.
Friends congratulate him.
He says,
“I don’t know whether this is good or bad -
it is just like that.”
After sunshine comes rain;
after rain comes sunshine.
Neither good nor bad -
things are just like that.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
Teacher: Class!...I want you all to tell me what you all want to be when you grow up...Lets start from you...
Student A: I want to be a doctor...just like my dad!
Student B: I want to be a cook...cos I like to eat!
Student C: I want to be a lawyer...cos my mum wants me to be one
Student D: I just want to be happy
Teacher: You are missing the point of my question...I asked what you want to be when you grow up...not what you want to feel when you grow up
Student D: No...you are missing the point of life...I just want to be happy regardless of what I become when I grow up

A test of faith and patience...
It is pride that push me on to what I am today,
It is pride that cause the agony I am feeling today.
Once again, reality has made me bow my head...
I am not so great after all...
Perhaps this is a good time to reflect on my arrogance,
Perhaps this is a time to train my patience,
May time reveal to me that the world is still fair...
May I have the strength to carry on even if the world is unfair...
It is pride that cause the agony I am feeling today.

Big 4 Sorting Hat
Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Big 4 Sorting Hat
And I can top them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in KPMG,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and drive for excellence,
Set KPMG apart;
You might belong in Deloitte,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Deloitters are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old PWC,
If you've a steady mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in EY,
You'll make your real friends,
Those friendly folks have the best facilities,
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!
